A Level Chemistry 2017 Paper 1 Question 16 Solution - Exclusive
In this exclusive video we want to discuss the suggested solution for A Levels Chemistry (H2 Chemistry) 2017 Paper 1 Question 16.
Let Chemistry Guru, Singapore's top JC Chemistry tuition centre, guide you through this question:
The topic tested in this question is on Introduction to Organic Chemistry.
In particular we want to draw the structure of each organic compound and compare the number of hydrogen for each pair of compounds.
So let's go through each option.
Option 1
Comparing structures of 2-aminopropane and 2-bromo-2-methylpropane:
Both compounds have 9 hydrogen so option 1 is true and part of the correct answer.
Option 2
Comparing structures of ethylpropanoate and butane-1,2-diol:
Both compounds have 10 hydrogen so option 2 is true and part of the correct answer.
Option 3
Comparing structures of butanenitrile and 2-methylpropanal:
Butanenitrile has 7 hydrogen while 2-methylpropanal has 8 hydrogen. So option 3 is false so will be excluded from the answer.
Finally we can compare the options in the question to determine that the answer has to be B.
